I Prefer Beige

A "Not My Collector" original with companion framed giclee

£2250.00

This piece comes from the "Not My Collector" series, a satirical body of work seen through the eyes of imaginary critics and trolls who just don’t get it. Each critic voices a familiar put down, and the artwork refuses to shrink to fit it.

In this case the critic line reads, I prefer beige, something plain that matches my sofa. The fictional critic may not get it, but the work doesn’t bend to their taste. Not My Collector has always stood for the idea that if they don’t get it, I’m probably on to something.

The critic for this piece is Sue Perficial, a collector of lace doilies, compliments, and village jam trophies. Obsessively tidy and devoted to order, she believes everything has its place, except abstract art. Her comment appears on the companion giclee print.

The original canvas features the face painting on its own. The critic comment does not appear on the original.

Each original comes with a same size companion giclee print featuring the critic’s commentary. Together they form a diptych, the work itself and the world that tries to define it. Whether displayed together or kept separate, they complete the Not My Collector story.
